THE ARTiSTRY of FRITZ KECK
After many years in a career that took the artist all over the country and the Bahamas, Fritz has returned to his hometown. A Pittsburgh native who grew up in Edgewood and graduated from Carnegie Mellon with a degree in Industrial Design, the artist is fulfilling his wish to paint full time.
His main focus has been creating original oil paintings of old Pittsburgh and the surrounding area along with images of today. The Black and white archival images are provided by local entities and are turned into colorful originals oils. The originals are also available as prints through the Post Gazette PG Web Store and the canvas giclees and originals are sold by Maser Galleries in Shadyside which is the exclusive dealer for the giclees.
Keck's paintings reflect the region's history in steel making, mining, ethnic neighborhood's, trolley's, the rivers, and other icon subject manner. In addition to the over 100 paintings done the past 7 years he has done commissions for companies such as Rockwell International, Rockwell Venture Capital,Nemacolin Woodlands, Greenbriar Resort and Block Communications.
Adding color to the archival images reflects the rediscovery of the unique and diverse character of the Pittsburgh region.
