A native of southwestern Pennsylvania, I have lived most of my adult life near the marshes in coastal New England, but have had a love affair with the wilds of Southwest Ireland forever and a day.
I am most passionate about painting in the tonalist style where paint is applied in layers of dark tones, muted hues and touches of light to create atmospheric, luminous effects.
With my paintings, I evoke emotion that moves the viewer to take pause... to become part of tranquil landscapes with low mysterious light in slow passages of time.
The intimate times of day...twilight...eventide...are what speak to me. I capture the memory of how it looks and feels when day is melding into the arms of night, and night into day. When the dance of quiet light gently sprawling across the land, is the most evocative. It is what moves me to paint, and to remember, to tread lightly upon this Earth.
